In the following pages I will chronicle my step by step journey as a Church Planter
SIX Do’s and Don’ts of Ministry

PRAY OR QUIT

What God has called us to do cannot actually be done by any physical means. We fight a spiritual fight. If we are not willing to get away from the desk, get away from a planning meeting, get away from the crowd and actually get on our knees before our God … we need to quit. Because without prayer all the planning and preparation will not work. Pray or Quit.

DON’T GET IT DONE – GET IT RIGHT

Getting something done is of little or no value whatsoever. If I take a test and get it done, but I miss 60% of the questions, it did me no good to take the test. The goal is never to simply get something done … the goal is to get it right. Here are my standards for getting things right.

Getting it done right is getting it done ON TIME.

Getting it done right is getting it done WITH EXCELLENCE.

Getting it done right is getting it done WITH A TEAM.

DO YOUR WORK – DON’T CRITIQUE OTHERS

There are two things that happen when you critique others and both of them suck. Number One – by putting what someone else down you begin to think you are better than what you actually are. Number Two – you hinder your own growth and production because you are spending time dogging what someone else has already completed instead of working on the work you have in front of you.

MASTER THE BASICS

Every week there are certain things that should happen without you even thinking about them. These things are the absolute basics of doing a service.

- Facility is clean and clutter free.
- Music playing in the lobby.
- Workers in the right places.
- Friendly people everywhere.
- Follow up with visitors – salvations – core students

DREAM BIG

I am convinced that whatever it is we dream. Whatever goal we set that the God “who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think” will look down at us and say – “Come on, is that all you want – give me a challenge”! We serve a BIG God … so Dream Big.

INVITE EVERYONE YOU MEET

I tell my staff all the time – “You have to smoke what your selling”. If you are NOT so excited about what it is that you are doing for the Kingdom that you want to invite everyone you meet to experience it … then you are in the wrong field. Invite everyone you meet to join your team, join your ministry, come to your venues.
