In the following pages I will chronicle my step by step journey as a Church Planter
Five things I did not realize would happen when we planted TheCHURCH at Visalia

That it would be this much fun.

When we first planted TheCHURCH at Visalia, I had no idea that it would be this much fun. Prayer Times, Message Prep, Meeting with People, Building Teams, Expanding Services, grabbing coffee with people that have questions about TheCHURCH … it is all just way more fun and fulfilling that what I thought it would be.

That I would actually care as much as I do.

I have always loved people. But not too this extent. When new people visit TheCHURCH, I want to talk with them. When one of my people have a prayer answered, I am ecstatic. When someone needs to talk and they are going thru a tough time, I feel the weight of their pain; not just during the conversation, but thru-out the day, in the morning when I wake up and also in the evening when I go to bed. To be honest this has surprised me, how often I have found myself on my knees taking the needs of the people God has brought into our lives, to the Lord in prayer. I love these guys!

That friendships could be this authentic.

I’ve been in Local Church ministry for over 20 years and to be honest I have had a lot of great friends. But many times the people you work closest with in ministry are just just that, “people you work with in ministry”. The greatest thing about TheCHURCH at Visalia is we are actually friends. We talk, we pray, we go out to eat, we welcome our homes to each other. There are groups of people that meet for breakfast, go on morning runs, play soft ball, and just live life together. This is what I’ve always longed for. This is what TheCHURCH should be …we should be together!

That so many great people would join the team.

When I look around the landscape of our family of volunteers at TheCHURCH I am amazed at these folks. Showing up early, staying late. Taking personal time to brainstorm about a women’s events, Bible studies as well as wanting more times of leadership training and growth. I love seeing our folks welcome people not only into the halls of TheCHURCH but into their personal lives as well. Each week we have veteran Christ Followers and newly saved Believers, walking hand in hand to bring people to Jesus and help them live like him.

That our church would be this welcoming to others.

Lets be honest. Most churches are not all that welcoming to people that are different than them. We expect people to come to church and either be all together or act like they are. One of the greatest surprises to me has been how welcoming TheChurch is to everyone. Week after week we have people from every walk of life, belief system, and religious background walk thru our doors and every week every single person is welcomed with open arms to join us in taking a next step to truly knowing and walking with Jesus. I love it!!

What an absolute joy it has been to be a part of what He is doing. This is more than I ever expected. But I have a feeling, the best is yet to come.
