In the following pages I will chronicle my step by step journey as a Church Planter
22 Years, 22 Thoughts that changed everything for me.

22 years ago my Dad (who was also my Pastor) came to me and said, “Kevin, Barry (our volunteer youth pastor) is leaving. Would you like to be my Youth Guy?” I replied “Well, I’m going to be here next week, why not?” and that was it. That was my call to ministry.

With every year that passed there were certain lessons I learned and certain thoughts that shaped my view.

So here you go, here are the 22 thoughts that changed everything for me during my first 22 years of ministry.

1 – Pray or quite wasting everyone’s time.
2 – Look for a great ministry model then copy it.
3 – Find your Paul and become a Timothy.
4 – Life isn’t always easy but God is always good.
5 – God won’t put you anywhere He hasn’t equipped you to be.
6 – Speaking to teenagers effectively is a craft that needs to be mastered.
7 – Don’t climb the ministry ladder … burn it.
8 – Relationship trumps everything.
9 – I’m not God’s gift to ministry, ministry is God’s gift to me.
10 – One book per month will change your destiny.
11 – Don’t despise the day of small beginnings.
12 – What you have plus God is enough.
13 – Sow where you want to go.
14 – A servants heart will take you farther than you ever dreamed.
15 – A new journey begins with your first step of faith.
16 – “Find another me” … from Gabriel Base
17 – God’s ability to save the lost is not determined by the size of your church or bank account but by the level of your obedience.
18 – The need is the call.
19 – Listen more, talk less.
20 – Parents are not the problem, they are part of the solution.
21 – Dream Big then get your butt off of the couch.
22 – Enjoy today because tomorrow comes to quickly.
